Realizing the possibilities and needs of modernization of plantation sector through management education and training, Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India constituted a core group in 1990 to establish a strategic institution of management education in plantation sector. Accordingly, a Blu-print was prepared for the Institute of Indian Plantation Management (IIPM), Bangalore.
